Health in Kind Foundation volunteers were invited to the Indigenous Kinship community festival in Murwillumbah and Tweed heads in 2016 and in 2017 and have been invited to another one, coming up in May 2018. The Health in Kind doctors, counsellors and dentists provide free physical and mental health and dental screenings for those visiting the festival. The assessment involves dental checks ups, other general medical checks like blood-sugar and blood pressure checks to having more intensive health and mental wellbeing discussions. Just over 100 people were seen on the day in 2016 and increasing in 2017, from all age groups and this provided the youth volunteers further understanding of the needs of the community.
Medical and dental checks and packs with food and hygiene items have also been provided to people at the Murwillumbah community centre on their community awareness day at the centre and another awareness day at Knox Park in 2017. Many parents and people in the community were provided assistance with mental and physical awareness and dental checks.
